MalayBank Guide was founded in 2015 by Sarah Chen, a Malaysian finance professional, and David Thompson, a British expatriate who experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating Malaysia's banking system. After spending weeks trying to open his first Malaysian bank account and facing numerous rejections and administrative hurdles, David partnered with Sarah to create a solution for other expatriates facing similar challenges.
What began as a small consultancy operating out of a shared office space in Kuala Lumpur has grown into Malaysia's premier banking facilitation service for foreigners. Over the years, we have assisted more than 5,000 clients from 78 different countries, building strong relationships with major Malaysian financial institutions along the way.
Our team has expanded from the original two founders to a diverse group of banking specialists, legal consultants, and multilingual customer support staff. We've developed proprietary processes that significantly increase the success rate for foreign applicants, even those with complex visa situations or limited documentation.
In 2019, MalayBank Guide was recognized with the "Excellence in Financial Services" award by the Malaysian International Business Association. By 2021, we expanded our services to include business account setup and investment guidance for foreign entrepreneurs and investors entering the Malaysian market.
Today, we continue our mission of making Malaysian banking accessible to everyone, regardless of nationality or residency status, while maintaining our commitment to personalized service and client satisfaction.
